How to Find Your Life's Purpose

Let’s review:

At this point in time, I have literally read thousands of books, articles, and blogs in the vast pool that is personal development.

I have seen amazing teachers and speakers…

Taken wonderful programs…

And followed, tried, and experimented with countless success systems.

Some were wonderful, inspiring, and even “life changing.” Others were not.

So, where has all of this inner exploration, time, money, and effort led me?

Am I smarter or wiser from all of this…or just a really slow learner (don’t answer that!)?

Have I found nirvana yet? Enlightenment? Heaven? The Holy Grail?

Well, the one thing that I have realized is that regardless of how I define it or whatever I choose to call it…I have really been searching for only one thing all along: my life’s purpose, the answer to the question “Why am I here?”

Can you relate?

So, what do I believe is this seemingly elusive purpose of life?

Here’s what I have found so far:

What is Your Life’s Purpose?

As lofty as the phrase “life purpose” may sound, I believe that our purpose in life is actually very simple:

Life’s purpose is joy. Pure and simple.

Yes, I know you have probably heard this one before in one form or another, using words like “follow your bliss” or words like these:

“Everything exists for joy. There is not one other reason for life than joy. Everything exists for the purpose of joy in the moment.”
– Abraham-Hicks

The Key to Finding Your Life’s Purpose

Even though you may have heard it hundreds of times (or more) by now, let me ask you the key question:

Have you found your joy…your bliss…your passion yet?

Are you living your greatest joy now on a daily basis?

How to Find Your Life’s Purpose

Don’t worry. You’re not alone.

Here’s what I realized:

No matter where I continue to look…

Which books I read…

How many times I check…

Or how far I stray away from what I believe and know…

I keep coming back time and again to the same most effective and powerful way for finding my life’s purpose and greatest joy in the only place where they can ever be found: within me.

Here it is once again (because I know that I can be a slow learner sometimes):

Surrender to your Higher Self.

That’s right. The other “S” word. Surrender.

Or if you prefer: Let go.

Or one of my personal favorites: Help!

No matter what you choose to call it, surrendering your life to your Higher Self (i.e., God, Source Energy, Universe, etc.) within and saying “you decide for me” is the single most powerful way I have found to overcome all obstacles, solve all problems, and experience your greatest joy on a regular, daily basis. End of story.

So, why then aren’t we all doing it more on a daily basis?

Here’s what I wrote in my article The Power of Surrender:

“Surrender does not sound sexy or attractive to most people. In fact, surrender is usually equated with giving up, losing, and defeat. However, I feel surrender has gotten a bad ‘rap,’ although I did not always believe so.
The power of surrender is actually a powerful method for silencing your ego enough to allow your highest self and true potential to come shining through without resistance (subconscious and unconscious). It is the single most effective and efficient means I have found for accomplishing all of this, but it’s still not sexy or attractive sounding.”

So true.

Besides surrender, here are the other most powerful ways that I have found to align with your Higher Self, find your life’s purpose, and experience your greatest joy:

None of this is “rocket science,” I know.

The way is simple.

The only question becomes whether or not we practice all of this on a regular, daily basis.

If not, let each of these practices serve as friendly reminders to both you and I that our life’s purpose, greatest joy, and the peace we are really looking for is only a simple choice away.

And it always will be.
