The Power of Empowering Beliefs

The Universe is always delivering to each of us everything that we truly believe in (i.e., all that we are repeatedly giving our energy, attention, and focus to, desired or not).

I think of beliefs as the filters that the unlimited Universal Energy must pass through before expressing Itself in, as, and through our life.

Therefore, I have learned that if we change our repeated thoughts and focus, our beliefs will change, and subsequently, our life experience will too.

How to Change Your Life with Empowering Beliefs

Here are some empowering beliefs, observations, and paradoxes that have helped me change my life for the better:

  • It is better to be happy than right.
Initially, this was a tough one for me. My ego loved to be right and would spend a tremendous amount of time and energy trying to do so. After I made the decision to focus as much as possible on being happy instead of right, my life got much easier and then I started attracting more and more situations that gave me greater opportunities to be happy. Funny how that works, huh?

  • Giving and receiving are the same.
I have discovered that whenever I give to another, I also receive (often much more than I originally gave). When we choose to give, it’s like each of us becomes a magnet for the Universe to give to because our initial act of giving creates a “vacuum” which the Universe must then fill to restore Its own balance.

  • There is only now.
As I wrote in “The Secrets of My Success”:

“The past is gone. The future is not here. To focus your attention on one or the other is a waste of the present moment. If you are focusing on the past or future, you are missing the present.”

Whenever I forget this, I find it helpful to ask myself:

“Where are you? What time is it?”

Then, answering “here and now” brings me back to the present moment every time.

  • Your desires will manifest easier when you are nonattached and don’t actually need them.
Ironically, I have noticed that my desires have manifested easily when I have completely let go (of the “how,” “when,” and “if”) and released them altogether. One of life’s little paradoxes…

  • You already have everything you need right now to be happy.
Attracting more stuff and things into my life has never made me happier, even when it was something I truly desired. It has been more helpful and satisfying to know that I already have everything I need right now to be happy. Everything else is just “icing on the cake.” For me, it has been about learning to enjoy the process of manifesting my desires more because the “high” from the fulfillment of my desires can often be short-lived.

  • The greatest service you can give is choosing to be happy no matter what.
Often I searched for the “best” ways to serve others, only to conclude that the best way to serve the world is to be happy now, no matter what. True, choosing to be happy now may also lead to other activities that can also serve others. But, I believe that being happy now is the foundation and greatest gift that we can offer ourselves and others, including the “world at-large.”

  • Accepting the present moment fully releases all stress and resistance.
Whenever I can accept the present moment fully, all of my stress and resistance is released. Just like magic!

  • Forgiveness is the key to personal freedom.
Forgiveness is a gift for each of us. It is a release of inner resistance. Forgiveness is not agreement, approval, or condoning of any grievance, rather it is the conscious choice to set ourselves free now.

  • You attract into your life whatever you give your attention to.
This is my version of the Law of Attraction: “We attract into our life whatever we give our attention to (desired or not).” Simple, yet very powerful.

  • Whatever you see outside of yourself is what you actually see within yourself.
The “good,” “bad,” and the so-called “ugly” that we may see in others and the world “out there” is really just a reflection of what we see in ourselves. For example, if I ever have a problem with someone or something in any area of my life, I have found that it is really just a mirror of what is within me. Therefore, the most powerful response for me is to forgive them and myself immediately, and release it all.

  • Happiness is just being.
The happiest place for me to be is to “just be.” Here, there is nothing more I need to do other than just be my true self. By accepting our true self, we experience the happiness we truly desire and allow others to do the same.

  • If you have inner peace, you have everything.
Whenever I am truly at peace, there is nothing else I need because it naturally feels like I already have everything I need.

A Course In Miracles says that when peace is all you want “there would be no further sorrow possible for you in any form; in any place or time. Heaven would be completely given back to full awareness, memory of God entirely restored, the resurrection of all creation fully recognized. No-one can mean these words and not be healed.”

How cool is that?

  • Allowing and flexibility is more powerful than force and might.
Trying to use force and might in any situation (including all of our desires) only creates more resistance within us. Learning to be flexible and allowing actually releases this resistance. The results? Without resistance, our desires will then manifest easily.

  • Your body is a reflection of your thoughts and beliefs.
Whatever I believe about myself will be reflected in my body. No exceptions. The two are actually one “mind-body.” Therefore, if we are not happy with our body in any way, by changing our thoughts and beliefs about it, the body itself would have to change…because the two are forever one.

  • The Universe’s only desire is to give you exactly whatever you are choosing to focus on.
The Universe loves us so much that it never judges whether or not something is good or bad for us. Instead, whenever we repeatedly choose to focus on anything for any reason, the Universe’s only desire is to send us the experiences, feelings, people, etc. that match our focus and attention. No questions asked.

“It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
- Luke 12:32

  • Your truth and answers are often the opposite of what others are telling you.
I have often found the truth and answers that I was looking for (in different areas of my life) were often 180 degrees away from what others were saying to me, even if all was well-intended. It’s almost like our spirit enjoys the challenge and opportunity to create a reality others didn’t believe was even possible for us or even better, the opportunity to believe in ourselves. This is why I have concluded that our heart and Higher Self holds all of our answers for us. We need look no further than Its guidance within us.

“You just have to be who you are. The best you can do is be certain that you are connected to your Source Energy, and let everybody else figure it out for themselves. Some of them will adore you, some of them will hate you — and none of it has anything to do with you. Choose what feels good to you and leave everybody else to choose what they want.” - Abraham-Hicks
